McKenzie loves all things girlie, pink, purple and sparkly. She loves everything art too! I love to mix and match what my girls like and make my own theme that fits their personality at that age. So Disco art party was what we came up with together! Sounds like fun to me! I always ask her if she wants to be surprised or if she wants to help. This year she decided she wanted to help. I hope when she grows up she can look back at her parties and tap into her 7 year old sweet and innocent self.
We had so much going on this year that I knew I didn’t have the time to spend making everything for her birthday party like I usually do. We typically have parties at our house but I knew I just needed to do some thing easy. Art Paper Scissors in Parkland, FL is a great art studio for kids that McKenzie loves to go to for camp. It is the perfect spot for parties too! They made melted vinyl record baskets with beaded handles and mod podge, disco slime and spray painted a happy birthday sign for McKenzie that I have hanging up in her room. All the girls were the same age and I think they had fun making their crafts!
Since we were having it at the art studio I decided to concentrate on the girls favors and the dessert table. For the girls favors I wrapped color changing sequin slap bracelets, light up jelly rings and pop rocks up in holographic cello wrap. They came out so cute! We displayed them on the dessert able and tied them up with a sparkly silver star. Each girl that came got a pink disco ball tumbler to drink out of and pink sparkly sunglasses too.
For the backdrop Rusty made a PVC stand that I attached a white sheet to with safety pins. I bought the silver fringe curtains at Party City. I layered 5 of them on top of the white sheet. See link below for silver curtain. I layered the balloon garland on top of the curtain and secured it with command hooks behind the curtain. I used a few metallic stars and a moon (Kenzie’s favorite) to add depth to the balloon garland. I have a tutorial for how I make my balloon garland on my Instagram story if you ever need to refer to it. Party City sells many different sizes for the regular latex balloons. Use big balloons and small balloons for added dimension to your garland. The personalized holographic star for the front of the table my best friend made. She is an artist and is that friend that can literally make anything you can imagine. She is so talented and I am so lucky to always have her going along with all of my crazy ideas.
All of the desserts were made by Heather at Wild Flour Baking. She is amazing and can create magical desserts for any occasion. She made a two tier chocolate cake that was so delicious with edible disco balls on top. Star sugar cookies on a stick, cake popsicles and macaroons that are McKenzie’s favorite. They all were beautiful and oh so yummy. I highly recommend her.
McKenzie and Maven wore rompers from Nordstrom made by Stem. Their shoes are Mini Melissa’s. McKenzie wanted Maven to match her little sister and of course that made this mama very happy!
This was a very easy party to put together that came out super cute. If you are ever in a time crunch focus on the dessert table and do most of the pictures in front of it for a beautiful backdrop! As always please contact me if you have any questions!
