Sanctuary Medical Center

I have been going to Sanctuary Medical Center for a couple of years now. I really love the entire staff. They are friendly, helpful and conservative. I’ve been so pleased with my experience there that I thought it would be great to share with you the treatments that I had done recently on my skin. I’ve always struggled with my skin. I have hyperpigmentation, fine lines, loss of collagen, acne scarring and uneven skin texture. Yay for me! Ugh it’s tough but I really have come so far.

I started seeing Cheryl Staurowsky who is a licensed Aesthetician a couple years ago and absolutely love her. I’ve done several chemical peels with her. She always has the best products that are always on the cutting edge of skincare. We did a few chemical peels to get my skin ready for the BBL and Halo laser treatments I had done at Sanctuary Medical Center with Dr. Schwedelson. My last visit with Cheryl was post laser for a chemical peel to get my skin in tip top shape. She is personable and so knowledgable. I’ve learned so much from her. I’m so excited to be trying out a brand new product she is carrying. Skin Better Tone Smart SPF 68 Sunscreen Compact. If there is one thing that Cheryl has told me over and over is to wear sunscreen everyday. Don’t go outside without it. I am loving this compact. When I don’t have time to put on makeup I just use this compact. It blends with my skin nicely and protects it from the damaging South Florida rays. I highly recommend her for facials, chemical peels, and all the latest topical skincare.

Dr. Schwedelson is such an amazing dermatologist. She prescribed me spironolactone for my hormonal acne that was primarily on my chin. This medication has changed my skin considerably. Once we were able to get my acne under control. We scheduled the BBL and Halo laser treatments for the same day. They numbed my face when I arrived. The first treatment was the BBL laser. This focuses on the hyperpigmentation and acne scarring. The second treatment was the HALO laser. This laser focuses on dark pigmentation, uneven skin texture, enhances skin tone and laxity, minimizes pores and fine lines. It was uncomfortable and hot but not painful. The first 3 hours after the laser was the most uncomfortable. My face was on fire. After the first 3 hours it was fine with no pain at all. I also told told Dr. Schwedelson that when I would pucker my lips I didn’t like the dimpling in my chin. She suggested doing a few drops of botox in my chin. Who knew that was even a thing!? Wow let me tell you what a difference! Genius!

I know you are wondering about the down time honestly there really isn’t any. I didn’t wear any makeup for the first few days and I stayed out of the sun completely but other than that I resumed my busy life as a mama of two very active little girls. My skin scabbed up and flaked off revealing a much more even skin texture with less brown spots and fine lines in about 7 days! Wow! I was so shocked to see the difference! I highly recommend this treatment for anyone that faces any of my skin challenges. After all, when my skin looks good I definitely feel more confident and happy! I’m so pleased with my results. Thanksgiving Tablescape

I can’t believe its already November! Life is just flying by! I want to share with you my Thanksgiving/Fall tablescape to give you a little inspiration for the upcoming Autumn festivities. I always follow a few rules when building a table setting.

  1. Mix and Match – I love to mix and match metals and textures. Don’t be afraid to combine different patterns too. It creates visual interest and gives a special one of a kind look to your decor. I used gold, silver, wood, and woven textures.
  1. Varying Heights – Use stands, flowers and candles to create different levels of height for the table. I used tall pumpkins and the thankful sign to add dimension.
  1. Keep it casual – These stands true for me while my children are small. I never want my kids to be afraid of sitting at the table in fear of breaking something. The plates I used are actually disposable from Target!
  1. Lighting – Lighting in any design is key. If you have small children and are afraid of using candles, use the battery operated wire lights. In my table setting I have the lights inside the houses to create ambiance and wonder.
  1. Greenery – Always use greenery. It brings life to your table. If you can use real flowers or greenery that is always the best option, but if that can’t happen, use faux!

Last Minute Halloween Chicken Costume – Amazon Prime

Things you’ll Need
Amazon:
White leotard – Size up on this. You can buy two and layer them putting polyfil in between the leotards to make it cozier and so the feathers don’t stick your child. I didn’t do this because we live in Florida and its 90 degrees.

Pilot Hat – Size down on this.

Yellow Tights – I ordered these but they got lost in transit so I used pink tights she had which was cute too.

Pink Felt – I had some at home but just in case you need it this is a good option.

White Boa’s – I bought three but I think you could get away with two.

Polyfil

Walgreens:
Yellow Rubber Gloves – I had these on hand. If you don’t have these pick up a pair at Walgreens. They do not have the yellow rubber gloves at Target or on Amazon.

From Home:
Old Shoes
Hot Glue Gun
Scissors

  1. First I started with cutting out the comb shape for the chickens comb. I cut two pieces of pink felt hot glued them together on the edges and then filled it with polyfil. I then hot glued the felt comb to the top of the pilots hat.
  2. Then I took the yellow rubber gloves filled the fingers with polyfil and stuck the shoe inside. I cut a slit down the middle of the glove and hot glued the glove to the inside of the shoe. Repeat for other shoe.
  3. For the feathered leotard I filled the leotard with polyfil just to give it shape. I started at the top shoulder seam and hot glued three boa’s all the way around the leotard until I got to the bottom. I cut one piece of boa and glued it in between the legs to complete the feathered look. If you are worried about your child being cold or being bothered but the feathers you can double up the leotards and fill in between them with polyfil.

To make this costume it took about two hours start to finish. I love it so much and think Maven is the cutest little chicken around. For a family costume idea, the adults can dress up as farmers and siblings can be other farm animals too. I hope this helps and as always let me know if you have any questions! Happy Halloween!

Boho Beach Mommy & Me Photoshoot

I had the pleasure of working with Rachelina Photography this summer. We originally had this photoshoot planned for Mothers Day but South Florida weather had other plans. Every year for Mothers Day I treat myself to a photo shoot with my girls. To me there is nothing better. I want to capture every stage of their lives so when I’m old and grey I can look back at them all and reminisce. This dress is a dream. Rachelina owns this reclaimed dress and let me borrow it for the shoot. The girls dresses are from Joyfolie. It was 100 degrees with 100% humidity but we made it through with only a couple of bug bites. Photoshoots are not easy but so worth it.

Raddish Kids Cooking Subscription Box

It’s no secret that I don’t cook much and definitely need a little help in that department. My kids actually love to cook so when I found Raddish Kids I knew it was a perfect fit for us. Raddish is a cooking club, culinary lesson and mealtime solution that gets delivered to your door monthly. How cool is that? We were all so excited when the box came we tore into it and found the cutest silicone molds to make star and moon pancakes! The girls were jumping up and down! I think they would eat pancakes for breakfast lunch and dinner if I would let them.

Everything is so easy to follow with detailed shopping lists, recipes and lots of fun activity cards. The girls love their aprons and patch they get for completely the recipes! We made galactic pancakes from scratch and the girls gobbled them up. The pancakes were delicious and they were so proud to make them themselves. McKenzie and Maven had so much fun making the star constellations with toothpicks and marshmallows too! An activity that kept them busy for quite a while.

When we sat down at the table we used the table talk cards that you get with the kit. It asked what we would take if we flew to the moon. Such a fun question. McKenzie said her favorite stuffed animal, art supplies and a jumprope. Maven said her pancakes, her blanket and her purse. These are the days that I wish I could bottle them up. The cutest answers. We cant wait to see what next month’s Raddish Kids kit holds!

AUGUST RADDISH REVIEW
Our August Raddish Kids cooking subscription box came and the girls tore into it! After trying out the July box they were so excited to see what was next! This month is all about Argentinian cuisine. Chimichurri steak sandwiches, Patagonian potato salad, and dulce de leche cookies. Of course the girls begged to make the cookies first. I admit I’m just not that great at cooking and I definitely don’t make the effort I should with teaching my girls how to cook, that’s why I love these kits so much. Everything is so easy for me and I feel like I’m being a good mommy. I really do learn something every time we do a new Raddish kids recipe!McKenzie and Maven love their aprons and this months new patch is a sun! They feel so proud to get their patches each month. The cookie scoopers are genius! Where have these been all of my life? They loved scooping out the dough and plopping it onto the cookie sheet. I kept catching Maven sneaking a sampling of the dough, who can blame her.

I asked them what their favorite kitchen tool was. McKenzie said a whisk and Maven said she was a whisk too. We cracked up. Iceland RV Trip 2019

I’ve wanted to go to Iceland for 3 years. I have family and friends that have gone and they all rave about it so I knew I needed to go. Iceland is obviously cold most of the year so I knew we had to go in July or August when it is typically warmer. Rusty is not a fan of the cold and I didn’t want him to pout. We chose July 18-25. We were going to have 6 full days on the RV that unfortunately turned into 5 days due to flight cancellations and delays. An ideal trip would of been 7 full days, I did feel a little rushed. We concentrated on the south coast. The weather was beautiful. Most days were overcast in the 50’s but the weather changes on a dime there. Always be prepared for rain.

I do want to say Iceland Air was an amazing airline. They were friendly and helpful. We had our worst traveling experience to date with Delta. Avoid them at all costs. Trust me on this. I won’t go into the details but they were rude and unwilling to help us.

I had a friend of a friend rent a RV in Iceland for a vacation and she said it is the best way to see the country. Now keep in mind in the 22 years Rusty and I have been together we have never camped. I am a baby and I like my amenities. I asked my friends how do I even ask Rusty if he wants to take a RV he is not going to be down for that, he likes his amenities too. To my surprise when I told him I had something crazy to ask him and laid out my RV plan he was intrigued! We ended up renting a 3 person RV from Geysir Rentals near the airport and it was perfect. Tiny bathroom, shower, two beds and a stove. We named him Squatty. I’ve linked it here for you, The company was great and accommodating. I would definitely use them again.

When we got the RV we went to the Bonus grocery store to get food. One thing you must know is that as soon as you leave the city, food is very hard to come by and not very tasty. There is no fast food and definitely no Starbucks! The water there is arguably the most pure in the world. If you buy a bottled water you might get laughed at. You can drink straight from the tap. It was so good! I will definitely miss that in the States. We bought alcohol at the duty free store in the Reykavik airport but in hindsight I would only buy wine. For some odd reason it is really hard to find ice! So my tequila didn’t taste very good warm. The Somersby ciders are really good and we found them at most gas stations and small stores.

In the summer it gets dark for roughly 3 hours. Usually somewhere around midnight-3am. This was amazing! We got to see and experience so much more for our stay because we stayed up late. Some of our best experiences were late at night while everyone else was sleeping!

I’m sharing our itinerary below. We had to change a few things around since we were delayed in NYC for so long. The Blue Lagoon is near the airport so I recommend starting or ending your trip with a stop there. I would give yourself 3-4 hours there but you could definitely stay longer.

Iceland is so diversely beautiful. We can’t wait to go back there is so much more to discover!

Fun fact: There are over 10,000 waterfalls in Iceland! Say what?!?!

DIY Children’s Art Space with Ooly

When I was little I would color in my room for hours. I loved it. I loved everything about it. I would try to draw. The best I could do were stick figures. In my mind I thought an artist had to be good at drawing. If I couldn’t draw then I wasn’t an artist. I thought that for the longest time. Now I know that being artistic comes in all different shapes and sizes. I am an artist. I’m not a painter or a illustrator. I’m a designer. I love to come up with a concept, pull products and see it come to life all while creating a space that is functional and inviting. I want my daughters to grow up knowing they are artists. Maybe they love to draw, maybe they love to paint or maybe they just love the freedom that comes with art. I’m so happy to give them a happy space for finding their inner artist.

I set out to create a cozy space for them in my office that they could use for their creativity through art. Hoping that while I’m working they can be in my office with me doing their own thing. Wishful thinking probably but let’s give it a shot! I started with the most important thing, the art supplies. I am a huge fan of Ooly art supplies and knew I had to have their incredible line for McKenzie and Maven. They have the greatest products for little kids and big kids. I’m sharing all of the items below for you. Next up was the desk. I didn’t want to break the bank and knew I wanted to keep it simple. IKEA what would I do without you? It’s the perfect size for the space, both girls have a drawer and it’s inexpensive. Boom. Done. The chairs I found at Target online, fuzzy chair cushions are from World Market and that gorgeous rug is from Anthropologie . Here’s a little tip, if you love gorgeous rugs like I do but don’t want to spend a fortune find smaller spaces in your home to purchase those uniquely beautiful rugs. This rug is a 3 X 5.

The pegboard and basket accessories are from Joann Fabrics. I was looking at the plastic IKEA pegboard but when I saw this wood one on sale I jumped on it. It was 60% off! The gold trash can and white wire paper holder are both from Home Goods. The lamp shade is an Anthropologie find and the lamp base is from Target. The cute tubs on the shelf are playdough from Ellie and Piper party boutique!

I knew I wanted some sort of storage next to the desk but couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do. With lots of Pinterest scrolling I found the Ivar book shelf from IKEA and all of the different hacks on this piece. This was very inexpensive and was the perfect size. To add a little character to it I had my handy hubby put the wood house top on it. It really finishes the piece and makes it a little more unique. Now the fun part to fill it up! The colored collapsible boxes at the top are from Shop Sweet LuLu. They are so good! The glass rope jars are a Hobby Lobby find. Sugarboo is where I scored the cute plant holder I filled with crayons and popsicle sticks. The two baskets at the bottom are from Target. I filled them with coloring books and paint smocks.

The finishing touch that pulls it all together is the amazing Opal Plus Olive sign. I’m in love with everything they make and knew this would be perfect. Father’s Day 2019 on any Stage

Father’s Day is almost here! This year the girls were really excited to pick out a gift for their daddy. Stage made it so easy! They have so much to choose from at a great price. We shopped online and the shipping was so fast! McKenzie and Maven love to dance with their dad so they picked out a bluetooth speaker for the living room. The twirling and giggles haven’t stopped.
