Maven’s 9th Birthday Celebration: Lush Party, Mall Scavenger Hunt & Sweet Moments at Home
This year, we pulled out all the stops to celebrate Maven’s 9th birthday! The festivities were filled with creativity, laughter, and a touch of sparkle, starting with a fun cake table setup at home and ending with an epic mall scavenger hunt. Here’s a look at all the birthday magic!
A Sweet Start at Home
We kicked off the celebration at home with a whimsical DIY cake table full of handmade touches. Meri Meri has the cutest cake table that I pulled the idea from. I put together a colorful set up with streamers, jelly cats wearing tiny party hats (because everything is cuter in a party hat!), and a homemade birthday banner. Mini cakes covered in fondant – personalized with DIY lettering adorned the table with a stack of her favorite powdered sugar donuts. Maven says the funniest slang words these days so we had to put them on her cakes to look back at in years to come. It was a cozy, family-filled moment before the big birthday party adventure on Sunday!
The Lush Party Experience
Maven invited 12 of her best friends to a party at Lush—one of her favorite stores. The girls had so much fun making their own bubble bars to take home, sampling lip scrubs and hand lotions, and playing games. Lush staff made sure every girl had a blast, the music was pumping and the store smelled amazing the entire time!
The Ultimate Mall Scavenger Hunt
After the Lush party, the fun didn’t stop. I organized a mall scavenger hunt that took Maven and her friends to nine of her favorite stores, where they had to find one of her favorite products in each shop. They dashed through the mall, solving clues and checking off each stop on their list. We took a photo of them with the product once they found and Maven assured them it was the correct pick.

3. Sugarfina (champagne bears)
“A candy store that’s oh-so-fine, With treats that sparkle, pop, and shine! Find something chewy, tiny, and sweet, A fruity surprise that’s fun to eat!”
4. Lululemon (leggings)
“Stretchy, comfy, made just right, Perfect for school or dance at night. A pair so soft, you’ll want some too, Find this go-to in black or blue!”
5. Altar’d State (earrings)
“Trendy, stylish, oh-so-cute, With flowing dresses and a boho suit. Look for something sparkly and bright, A little accessory, light as a kite!”
6. Nordstrom (Uggs)
“This place has fashion from head to toe, Shoes, dresses, and bags in a row. Look for something soft and snug, Cozy and warm, like a hug!”
7. Abercrombie & Fitch (hoodie)
“Trendy styles, classic and cool, Perfect for lounging, perfect for school! Find something comfy, soft, and neat, The ultimate pick for warmth and heat!”
8. Claire’s (keychain)
“A little something to clip and hold, With colors bright, or sparkles bold. Add it to backpacks, purses, or more, A fun accessory found in this store!”
9. Food Court (Cupcakes to Celebrate!)
“You’ve solved the clues, you’ve had some fun, But this adventure isn’t done! A birthday girl deserves a treat,Head to the place where friends can eat!”
How to Play:
Solve the riddle, find the store, and locate the mystery item inside.
A chaperone or birthday girl confirms its correct before moving on.
End the scavenger hunt at the food court for cupcakes and a birthday celebration!

Maven’s 9th birthday was such a special day filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Watching her smile and have fun with her friends was the best gift of all. From homemade touches at home to big adventures at the mall, it was the perfect way to celebrate our sweet girl!
